What's happening to Google Local Services Ads

Local Services Ads are not going away. Google is moving them into the main Google Ads platform as a new campaign type: Performance Max with pay-per-lead goals. The new campaigns still:

Pay per lead

Charge per valid lead (calls, messages and bookings), not per click

Search & Maps only

Show only on Google Search and Google Maps, in the same ad spots as before.

Still keywordless

Stay keywordless, with targeting based on your service categories and service areas.

The migration timeline: which wave are you in?

1 / August 2026 (Started)

Select U.S. home and storefront service businesses: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control and moving.

2 / Late 2026 (Next)

Broader groups, including service-area businesses without a storefront and accounts with custom bidding or booking setups.

3 / 2027

Non-U.S. accounts and every remaining category not moved in 2026.

How LSArespond keeps working after the migration

The Migration Tool is a free extra. LSArespond's main platform keeps working after your account moves to Google Ads Performance Max. Every core feature runs the same way it did on LSA, with no new setup, and auto-rating keeps working with the Google Ads lead feedback flow.

  • LSA autoresponder: replies to new message leads in under a minute, with four customizable follow-ups

  • Missed-call texts: automatically texts callers you couldn't pick up

  • AI call summaries: daily recap emails with AI summaries of answered calls

  • Auto-rating: rates leads and marks them Booked or Archived

  • CRM sync: pushes lead data to your CRM, including Jobber, Workiz and ServiceFusion

LSArespond: $19/mo base fee, plus usage fees of 50 cents per message lead and 20 cents per call lead. Trusted by over 2,000 users.

LSA migration FAQ

Is Google shutting down Local Services Ads?

No. Google is moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads as a Performance Max campaign with pay-per-lead goals. You still pay per valid lead, and your ads still show on Google Search and Maps in the same places.

When will my LSA account migrate to Performance Max?

Google is migrating in phases. Select U.S. home and storefront service businesses began in August 2026. Service-area businesses and accounts with custom bidding or booking setups follow in late 2026. Non-U.S. accounts and remaining categories move in 2027. Your account administrator gets an email 14 days before your date.

Will my LSA reports transfer to Google Ads?

No. Google says past campaign performance reports, including impressions, clicks, weekly spend and ad-level reports, will not migrate. Back them up before your account transitions.

Will my past leads and call recordings transfer?

Yes. Google says past customer contact details, message history and older call recordings move to the Leads page in Google Ads.

How do I back up my LSA data before the migration?

Google's current advice is to take screenshots of the reports you need, and it says a download page is coming. LSArespond's free LSA Migration Tool, available at the beginning of November 2026, automatically backs up your legacy LSA data as CSV and PDF files. Fill in the form on this page to hear when it launches.

Is the tool free?

Yes, 100% free for everyone, LSArespond customer or not. No subscription is needed.

My account has already moved to Google Ads. Can I still use  the Migration Tool?

The tool is for LSA accounts that haven't transitioned yet, so if your account has already moved to Google Ads / Performance Max, it isn't relevant for you. If you're still on LSA, back up before your migration date. The CSV and PDF files you save are yours to keep after the transition.

Will LSArespond still work after my account moves to Performance Max?

Yes. LSArespond's autoresponder, missed-call texts, AI call summaries, auto-rating and CRM sync all keep working after the move to Google Ads Performance Max. Auto-rating works with the Google Ads lead feedback flow. Pricing stays $19/mo plus 50 cents per message lead and 20 cents per call

lead, with auto-rating included and a free 30-day trial.
